A woman is sitting in her hotel room when there is a knock at the door. She opens the door to find a man whom she has never seen before. The man said “oh I’m sorry, I thought this was my room.” He then went down the hallway and took the elevator. The woman went back into her room and phoned security. Why?

Answer
You don’t knock on the door of your own room.

  1. I don’t agree with the answer to this question. If he was staying with other people, say his family, and he didn’t have a key, he might knock to ask his family to let him in. He probably wouldn’t have mistaken the floor. But if he was with his family and he did forget his floor than the woman was just really mean.

  2. Actually, this is a common practice of robbers. They knock on the door. If no one answers, no one is home. If they come to the door, they’re busted and they gracelessly go away.

  3. what about if he had company in his room and didn’t have keys I think its that if he was mistaken he would be off by a room next to her or across of her room not a totally different floor
